A somewhat rare substance, coldfire resembles fire in general form, but rather than the flickering warm colors of a flame, it is pure black. Coldfire radiates no heat and little light, but instead radiates an aura of coldness around it. A scant few mages have found ways of creating parts of this elemental distortion through magic or alchemy, forming either dark fire (fire with heat, but no light) or the confusingly-named cold fire (fire with light, but no heat). However, the only known source for true coldfire is the Paraelemental Plane of Ice, as it is occasionally formed when fire is exposed to those areas within that plane cold enough to freeze a flame.
